We come in prayer to God for love, so that we might find His peace.
As Christians, we know the truth that is hidden from the world: true peace doesn’t come in cars or in houses, in gifts or in things. True peace comes only from living in God’s love. And for this true peace, we pray:
Rowland Williams
O God, may we today and always live in Your peace. May we, each day, come to know your love ever more deeply, your love, which is the path to peace, a peace that surpasses anything that the world can give. May we see you in every person we meet today, and may your love pour forth upon them, your precious children, so that they might come to know your peace.
Fill our hearts with Your love, O God. Yours is the love that is true. Yours is the love that fills our hearts and radiates to all the world.
And so, as we are filled with Your love, O God, may we radiate your peace to all the world.
Putting Prayer into Practice:
Prayer to God for Love, That We Might Live in His Peace
How can we live this prayer today? May we consider:
- God commands us to love Him with our whole heart, mind and soul, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. What is one thing that we can do today to put this love into practice?
- Our God is pure love. When He loves, He loves. Nothing interferes with His love for us. But we, in our imperfections, often have mixed motives. What are our motives? How can we, today, do one act simply out of purity of love?
- True love means denying self and living for others. What can we do today to put the eternal salvation of those in our lives ahead of our own preferences?
May we live out this prayer to God for love today and every day.
